CBGS returned after a two-year absence to East Herts Golf Club and were treated to some fantastic weather and an excellent golf course. 38 members and 10 guests attended selling out another event. With the slightly later tee-time, we could enjoy a drink on the club house balcony before the round and the two-tee start allowed us to finish at a sensible time.

The average point score on the day was 30.02 points, with 11 birdies, 172 pars, 339 bogeys and 342 doubles or worse.

The day was sponsored by STG Mortgage Solutions, with some fantastic prizes provided to the winners. Sponsors are a vital part of these events – thank you Steve Gray for your contribution.

On to the prizes:

Cuts and shots back

Adrian Grant, Brian Scally and Jeremy Farrant – 1 shot cut
Tom Meeks – 2 shot cut
Andrew Coury – Received another shot back
Greg, Stephen Kay and I, although scoring low enough to earn a shot back, cannot do so as we are already at the maximum 24 handicap.

Fines

A selection of the best fines:

  • Paul Gibson for not informing CBGS of his handicap
  • Craig Salisbury for not attending dinner and not even managing to finish his round before having to leave
  • Mark Ling and Andy Turpin’s guest for missing dinner
  • Nick Cully for forgetting his golf shoes
  • Stephen Grey for wearing flip-flops in the clubhouse
  • Gary Hanson was delighted to have driven the ball far enough to reach Team STG Mortgage Solutions.

I hope you all enjoyed the day and I look forward to seeing many of you at Luffenham Heath.

2025 CBGS Captain – Kari Sewell
