We returned to the Duke’s course, Woburn for our 3rd consecutive Order of Merit opener and it did not disappoint. Thanks to Jon Dibb and his team for making us feel so welcome and for a brilliant day.

Given the amount of rain in February and early March, the course presented beautifully, and we were blessed with mainly a dry day and temperatures of 15 degrees.

A huge thanks to the 39 members and 13 guests who attended our inaugural event of the season, helping to cement Woburn as our opening venue of choice.

The course, whilst fair, proved challenging and this was shown in the scoring – ranging from 14 to 37 points, across both members and guests.

We were joined in the evening by Lewis Coghlin from ACTION medical research for Children who gave a heart-warming talk on the amazing work carried out by researchers in the UK funded by the charity, with significant focus on Cambridge, where 9 projects are currently being carried out.

With a combination of £10 on each ticket sold, sponsors Realnet Ltd, one reserve list donation, and fines collected throughout the day, we raised over £1000, which is a fantastic start.

Lastly, a huge thanks to Karl from Competition Golf for providing the scoring for the day and my vice Kari for his support and collecting the fines.

Next up is Thetford and I very much look forward to seeing you there.
