Huge thanks to the 31 members and their 19 guests who made the inaugural event of the season such a resounding success.

After a nervous weekend following the closure of the courses at Woburn (due to snow and rain), I was relieved not to be the first Captain to have to cancel an event. Other than a light snow shower later in the afternoon, we had sunshine and blue sky to help us appreciate one of the best courses in the country.

As ever, fortunes varied, ranging from 18-40 points for members to an even more extreme 17-44 points for guests. It is for note that the guests also had a clean sweep on the nearest the pin and longest drive holes!

There was an inspiring talk and video from Daryl Brown (CEO) and Emma Sanders (Events Officer) of Magpas Air Ambulance, reinforcing how vital public donations are to enable them to continue to save lives as a non state funded emergency service. With a combination of £10 on each ticket sold, sponsors Realnet Ltd contribution, Luke Molyneux donating his payment rather than asking for a refund and a number of misdemeanours resulting in widespread fines (including past and present Captains!) we raised over £1,000 on the day for our charity of the year, which is a tremendous start.

The winning team was Team Gipp with 122 points, beating Commercial Sense on countback.

Paul Smith took first place with 40 points.

The best guest was Neil Manley, scoring 44 points.
