Thetford, which has become a regular and reliable OOM event on the CBGS schedule, was the venue for our second outing of the year, and it certainly did not disappoint.

In addition to the course being in great condition, we were treated to wonderful hospitality and food by Hariett (in the office), John (the chef) and the team, who could not do enough to ensure we had a brilliant day.

Thanks to the recent rain, the course was lush and played fair – although some of the pin placements were questionable for a society day! For the second event running, we were blessed with a dry day, yet this time a bit of warmth too, with temperatures reaching the dizzy heights of 20 degrees.

A huge thanks to the 37 members and 15 guests who attended the day and helped cement Thetford as an OOM venue. Scores reflected conditions on the day, ranging from 14 to 39 points across both members and guests.

Thanks also to Fiona Stuart from Ashtons Legal for sponsoring the day and providing bottles of wine for the winners.

Congratulations to Damien Goldsack for winning the day on 39 points and taking home the Anthony Barnes shield and Chamber Pot trophy. Congratulations also to Team Ashtons who were awarded the team prize with 111 points after all members of Team Leivers went home ill after securing an unbeaten 115 points!

With a combination of £10 on each ticket sold, sponsors Ashtons Legal, 3 reserve list donations and fines collected throughout the day, we raised £1,130 on the day, which is amazing – so thanks very much!

Next up is Luffenham Heath on 8th May and I very much look forward to seeing you there.
