The eleventh CBGS annual tour (21-24 June) between two teams of 12 led by Vice President, Rich Blount and Past Captain, Chris Carey, ventured to the Emerald Isle.
Rich selected a team based on the enthusiasm of youth, whereas, Chris picked a team of guile and experience.
Following a Ryder Cup format over 3 days, 2 rounds were 4 BBB with the first held at Kinsale Golf Club ending 4-2 in favour of the PC team and the second round was at Fermoy Golf Club (superb hidden gem) which finished in an honourable 3-3 draw. The PC team (blue shirts) took a slender 7-5 lead into the final round of singles held at the stunning FOTA Island resort ( Deerpark course). Players were matched by handicaps with the PC team needing 5 points to retain the coveted Vice President’s Cup. The first 7 matches were won by the PC team and although the VP team rallied to take the final 4 out of 5 matches, the overall result was Past Captain 15 Vice President 9.
Cork really lived up to expectations with the famous Irish hospitality and a great time was had by all.
