For the second event in a row, we were lucky when the club (slightly reluctantly) allowed us to play after a long period of continuous heavy rain. Fortunately, it stopped shortly before our first tee time and we enjoyed perfect conditions throughout the afternoon. This rolling heathland course quickly dried out and proved to be a fair but challenging test for our 32 members and 12 guests. The catering and service was first rate and we were extremely well looked after.

The tragic loss of Ant Barnes deeply affected many members who shared their thoughts and memories of the ‘heart and soul‘ of the society. There was no doubt that Ant particularly enjoyed the banter around misdemeanours (the more minor the better !) leading to donations to the chosen charity. He would certainly have approved of the many levied last Thursday with his favourite charity, Magpas Air Ambulance, the beneficiary.

Geoff Davies, Trustee for Magpas, explained how donations are desperately needed for this non state funded emergency service to continue to save lives.

Ensors sponsored the event and Mark Upton presented some excellent prizes to the lucky winners with our two Rathbones members having contrasting fortunes!

Luffenham Heath was significantly oversubscribed and certainly lived up to expectations.

The winning team was Team Waters with 125 points, followed by The Captains Team with 116 points.

Mark Winchester took first place with 40 points.

The best guest was Andy Moore scoring 36 points.
